Direct answer
A standing seam roll former is built for one seam system: snap-lock panels close by pressing the seams together, mechanically seamed panels need a separate seamer to fold the seam on the roof. So the first thing to fix is the seam type, seam height, pan width and clip, then the material (pre-painted steel or aluminium alloy) and whether panels are made in a factory or on site. When you compare standing seam machines for sale, check that each quotation lists the same panel drawing, the roll sets, the cutter and run-out, and whether a seamer is included or not. Send your panel and seam drawing and we reply with a written quotation within 24 hours.

Price range: standing seam machines
US$23,000–36,000 (standard) · US$45,000–75,000 (premium), FOB China
Final price depends on profile, thickness, speed, punching and automation. Excludes freight, import duties and installation. Send your profile drawing for a quotation within 24 hours. North American configurations (480V/60Hz, UL and local requirements) are quoted separately.
Step 1: fix the seam system before anything else
Snap-lock and mechanical seam panels look similar in a photo but need different tooling and site equipment. Decide this with your roof designer or customer first.
| Seam type | How it closes | What the package must list |
|---|---|---|
| Snap-lock | Seams are pressed together by hand or foot; no seaming machine needed | Panel roll former with snap-lock roll set; clips if supplied |
| Mechanical seam (single or double lock) | An electric or hand seamer folds the seam on the roof | Panel roll former plus a seamer that matches the seam — quoted as a separate item |
| Nail-strip / fastener flange | Panel is screwed through a slotted flange, no clips | Roll set for the flange and slot punching if required |
| Tapered or curved panels | Special panels for curved or fan-shaped roofs | Separate equipment and trial — see arching and curving machine |

Send your panel and seam drawing (seam height, pan width, clip), material and thickness range. Our factory engineers in Xiamen reply with a written, itemized quotation.
Step 2: read the published reference machine correctly
Our Xiamen production base publishes values for a low-profile standing seam machine. They separate the input limits by material, which is exactly how you should compare offers.
| Item | Published reference | What you confirm for your machine |
|---|---|---|
| Material | 0.4–0.7 mm pre-painted steel, or 0.7–1.2 mm aluminium-magnesium-manganese alloy | Your metal, coating and thickness range on the trial coil |
| Panel and coil width | 150–530 mm effective panel width; 220–600 mm coil width | Your pan width and developed coil width for each panel |
| Process | Decoiling, levelling, roll forming, post-cutting, product support table | Any seamer, stacker or site equipment as separate items |
| Speed | Forming up to 15 m/min | Finished panels per hour at your panel lengths |

Step 3: factory machine or on-site machine?
Long panels are hard to transport, which is why some buyers form them on site. A factory line is simpler to run and easier to protect the coating; a site machine needs transport mounting, power, weather protection and panel support. A mobile trailer is not automatically included — check it in writing.
| Point | Factory line | On-site machine |
|---|---|---|
| Panel length | Limited by transport to site | Very long panels possible on the roof |
| Power and set-up | Workshop power, fixed foundation | Generator or site power, levelling at each site |
| Coating protection | Controlled environment | Weather and dust protection needed |
| What to confirm | Decoiler, run-out, stacking | Trailer or frame, lifting, reel stand, transport rules |
Step 4: one machine for several pan widths?
Many buyers want two or three pan widths. Ask how the width change is done (adjustable stands, spacers or separate rolls), how long it takes and whether each width has its own trial sample. A quotation that says "adjustable" without listing the widths and the change method is not comparable.

What affects the price
Seam type and height, number of pan widths, steel or aluminium, thickness range, cutter type, factory or site package, seamer, control system and component brands, decoiler and stacking, and delivery terms (FOB or CIF). The price ranges above exclude freight, import duties and installation. North American configurations are quoted separately. See also the snap-lock and mechanical seam trial.
Send your seam drawing — quotation within 24 hours
A dimensioned panel and seam drawing, material, thickness range and panel lengths are enough for a first written proposal.

Buyer questions
How much does a standing seam roll forming machine cost?
On our product page we publish two ranges: about US$23,000–36,000 for a standard machine and US$45,000–75,000 for a premium machine, FOB China. The final price depends on the seam, widths, material, automation and package, and excludes freight, duties and installation. North American configurations are quoted separately.
Is the seamer included with a standing seam roll former?
Not automatically. A snap-lock panel needs no seamer; a mechanically seamed panel needs a seamer that matches the seam. Ask for it as a separate line in the quotation.
Can one machine run steel and aluminium?
Often yes, but the thickness range differs by material. The published reference machine runs 0.4–0.7 mm pre-painted steel or 0.7–1.2 mm aluminium alloy. Ask for a trial in each material.
Can the panels be formed on site?
Yes, with an on-site configuration, but transport mounting, power, weather protection and panel support must be listed. A trailer is not included unless the quotation says so.
What should I send for a quotation?
Panel and seam drawing (seam height, pan width, clip), material and coating, thickness range, panel lengths, factory or site use, target output, power supply and destination.
What to send for a quotation
Panel and seam drawing, clip type, material and coating, thickness range, pan widths, panel lengths, factory or site use, target output, power supply and destination port. See reference projects from our Xiamen production base.
