Direct answer. Before approving a roll forming line for assembly, ask our factory team to identify the frame drawing revision, the stand-mounting and drive-mounting interfaces, and the inspection record for the fabricated frame. Compare the actual mounting features with the approved line layout. A workshop photograph can show that fabrication occurred; it cannot prove that the quoted frame is level, aligned or ready for a production trial.

Start with the machine that was actually quoted
The frame for an automatic C/Z purlin line may have different stations and changeover interfaces from a roof-panel or stud-and-track line. Do not approve a base frame from a generic workshop photograph. Request the proposed line layout and the frame or base drawing with revision, overall dimensions, lifting and anchoring provisions, and locations of forming stands, drives, punch modules and the cut-off station. Ask which components belong to the quoted scope and which are optional. Use the automatic C/Z configuration page or roof-sheet machine page to define the intended application before comparing layouts.
Inspect interfaces, not appearance alone
Before the forming stands are assembled, agree how our factory team will check the features that locate them. Examples include mounting-face condition, hole positions, accessible adjustment points, and clearances for drive and guarding components. Record the measurement method, reference datums and drawing tolerance for the particular machine. A smooth paint finish is not evidence of these dimensions. Do not copy a tolerance from another manufacturer's catalogue into a quotation for a different line.
The same approach applies after welding and machining: the buyer needs a traceable result for the agreed interfaces, not an unsupported statement that the frame is “precision made.” If a deviation is found, the record should describe the correction and the recheck. A fabrication photograph alone does not show either step.
Carry the record into the factory acceptance trial
The frame record should connect to the assembled line: note the frame identifier, drawing revision, station positions, setup changes and any rework. During the trial, use the specified steel grade and thickness range and measure the formed profile, punching layout if required, cut length and accepted output under agreed conditions. The FAT evidence checklist covers the separate running trial. Frame inspection is an upstream quality gate; it does not replace trial samples or prove production speed.
| Buyer check | Evidence to request | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Frame identity | Frame ID and approved drawing revision | That the final machine matches every quoted module |
| Mounting interfaces | Agreed datums, measurements and inspection date | Finished profile accuracy after assembly |
| Corrections | Deviation, repair method and reinspection record | Structural certification without the relevant design and test |
| Trial handover | Link from frame ID to assembled line and trial record | Accepted production at an unspecified material or setup |
Questions buyers ask
Can I approve the frame from workshop photos? No. Photos help identify a manufacturing stage. Approval requires the agreed drawing and documented inspection of the relevant interfaces.
Does a welded frame automatically need a particular steel grade or thickness? No universal specification follows from the word “roll former.” Ask our factory team to state the material and structural design for the configuration being quoted; verify it against the approved design rather than borrowing values from another machine.
Does a frame inspection prove the line can run my profile? No. That requires the assembled line, agreed coil and drawing, measured trial pieces, and a record of the operating setup.
Request a traceable proposal
Send the profile drawing, steel grade, thickness range, punching layout, target output and intended application. Ask for the proposed line layout and frame inspection scope alongside the machine configuration. Send the drawings to Halcyon so our factory team can confirm which records can be provided for your project.
