Direct answer
Approve a punched channel from a controlled drawing and hole map, then check a measured sample and its fit with the mating part. A photograph of slots or a machine catalogue cannot establish hole pitch, edge distance or assembly fit for a buyer's project.

Before the trial, freeze the profile drawing revision. The drawing should identify section dimensions, steel grade, thickness range, hole or slot type, hole pitch, edge distance and any handed or repeated patterns. If two profiles are intended to join, provide the mating detail as well. A supplier cannot infer a reliable punching layout from a general product name.
Agree where the first hole is located relative to a clear datum. Then choose representative checks along the sample: an end, a middle position and the last repeated feature. Record the part orientation so that a channel cannot be accepted upside down or reversed by mistake. The drawing should set the allowable differences; this article does not invent an acceptance tolerance.
A fit-up test adds information that measurements alone may miss. Try the sample against the specified mating part or assembly jig, using the intended fastener. If the mating component is unavailable, mark fit-up as unverified rather than claiming the sample is fully approved. Photograph the checked sample with its drawing revision and record who reviewed the result. Keep a rejected sample or change note when the punching program is revised.
For the equipment quotation, share the steel grade, thickness range, punching layout, required cut lengths and target output in addition to the profile drawing. Ask whether the proposed line makes the hole before or after forming and request a witnessed sample from the proposed sequence. The choice depends on the part and tooling design; neither sequence is universally better.
Is visual alignment enough?
No. Visual inspection can reveal obvious mistakes but cannot replace measured hole positions and fit-up against the intended mating detail.
Can one short sample approve a long repeated pattern?
Only if the agreed sample length and check positions represent the actual production requirement. Record what was and was not tested.
For a rack upright with repeated connector slots, use the rack-upright machine and slot-pitch review to separate adjacent slot spacing from positions measured along the member. Retain a fit test with the identified beam connector and safety-lock detail. This does not establish that the upright line also makes the beams, or approve the load capacity of the assembled rack.
