Direct answer
A useful setup record links the approved drawing to a specific machine state. Record the drawing revision, tooling or station identity, mechanical reference points, recipe or control data, guide positions, first-piece measurements and the person who approved the final setup. Keep changes traceable instead of relying on operator memory.

Define one controlled reference
Begin with the approved profile drawing and a named setup revision. Identify the tooling, station sequence and reference points that belong to that revision. If an adjustment is changed during the trial, record both the previous and final value.
Separate software data from mechanical settings
A stored recipe can contain useful control values, but it may not capture spacers, guides, handwheel positions or other mechanical changes. The setup record should state which settings are automatic, which are manual and how each is verified.
Close the record with a measured first piece
The record is incomplete until the final setup is connected to identified material and measured output. Retain the sample ID, inspection result, deviation log and approval status so the accepted condition can be repeated later.
Buyer review checklist
| Review item | Evidence to record | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Drawing control | Profile and revision number | Prevents an old shape from driving a new setup |
| Station identity | Tooling, stand or module labels | Connects each setting to a physical location |
| Mechanical settings | Guides, spacers and reference positions | Captures adjustments outside the control recipe |
| Control recipe | Program name and approved values | Records the digital portion of the setup |
| First-piece result | Material ID, sample ID and measurements | Confirms the final machine state |
Questions buyers ask
Is a saved control recipe enough for a changeover record?
Usually not by itself. Manual guides, spacers, tooling positions and inspection results may also need to be recorded.
Should every adjustment have a numeric value?
Use a numeric value when the design provides a controlled scale or measurement. Otherwise record the approved reference method and evidence without inventing precision.
Who should approve the final setup?
The responsible supplier and buyer representatives should follow the agreed acceptance plan and identify who reviewed the setup and sample results.
Information to send for an order-specific review
Provide the profile drawing, steel grade, thickness range, punching layout and target output. Add the destination electrical standard and the required acceptance method when they affect the line scope. These inputs allow a supplier to discuss the actual application without inventing a configuration from a generic catalogue model.
Keep a separate setup record for each offered framing profile
If you are comparing the HSK-3500 multi-profile framing-machine candidate, connect each approved C or U drawing to its own tooling, punching and first-piece record. A common model-family description is not proof that one setup or one trial covers all sections. Ask our factory team to identify the exact build and record what changes between the quoted profiles.
